One of the biggest challenges for any historical small town is preserving the look and feel of the past while it continues to grow.

This past Thursday, Town Manager, Doug McGee, spoke about the approach Pendleton has taken in the past to maintain its place on the National Register of Historical Places. He also talked about the plan that has been put into place for future growth that will maintain its historical standing.

During the meeting Doug highlighted one very special town project that will be coming in the future near the new middle school. This project will be a series of trails that will give, not only area school children, but members of the community, a safe route that can be taken to a number of locations on the east side of Pendleton.

To further enhance Pendleton’s goal of historical preservation the Town of Pendleton formed a Historical Preservation Commission. This commission’s focus will be to ensure that Pendleton continues its place on the National Register of Historical Places for years to come.
