Kevin said customers that are stopping by from
all over including
Carmel, Indiana.
Kevin has been involved selling produce since he
was a young kid. His mother had raised and
raised and sold vegetables at area Farmer’s
Markets since
he was 5-7 years old. And now Kevin has his own
produce market here in Pendleton, Indiana.
He was born in New Castle, Indiana and graduated from
the Pendleton Heights High School here in town.
Kevin said Pendleton has turned out to be a great place to
have a business for a number of reasons. Kevin said his
customers have been really great as well as very honest.
You going to be amazed once you hear what Kevin has to
say about the customers he has had stop by before and
after hours.
I ask Kevin how he manages to do so well in today’s
economy when so many say they are struggling or can not
find a job. Kevin said it all depends on how bad you
want to do something and how hard you want to work at
it.
Another part of Kevin’s success is always having great
produce on hand and getting the things his customers
have requested. He said a lot of people have ask him to
carry peaches so Kevin found a source that allows him to
carry fresh, farm ground peaches direct from Georgia. He
only carries farm grown produce and gets nothing from
bulk produce warehouses like that that is found in
stores.
Another thing I ask Kevin was that age old question as
to how can you tell when a watermelon is ripe. He said
you can forget all that thumping and shacking that we’ve
all done at some time. The only way to actually know if
a watermelon is ready to eat is to cut them open and
taste it.
Stop by and met Kevin. He’s a super individual to talk
with and carries great products day in and day out.
Kevin’s Produce Market is located on the north edge on
Pendleton, Indiana near the Swifty Gas Station on State
Road 67. His hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30-8:00 p.m.
Monday thru Saturday.
Oh, the watermelon I took home from Kevin's Market was
marvelous.
